Suddenly, there I was in the year 2022.
And WOW!!!
It was Morning…The Sun beginning to rise.
The musicians took their places and began to play
as The Villagers slowly joined together by the sea, facing East...
Welcome!
Blessed, Peaceful Day to You!
To all current "Drum Circlers", Thank You for contributing your energies, enhancing the joys of Drum Circle Experiences everywhere. To those of you who have not, as yet, experienced a "Circle" we trust that we will familiarize you a bit with some of its fundamentals,
and its attributes of well-being.
What a Drum Circle is: A gathering of people "playing" together (generally, situated in the configuration of a circle). We create a common music, contributing to "the good that it feels". Drums are THE primary instrument. Other instruments are often brought to the Circle, as well. Some folks dance. Some folks sing & clap, etc. There is laughter there, and lots of smiles as we summon a certain peace, and a release of stress within. All together, there's a Joy that's reached for by the community who gathers; and, an encouragement toward the releasing into confidence, the greater, nobler inhibitions of the heart.
Each circle can feel different depending on the diversity of those gathered; depending upon the possible theme & purpose within the benevolent passions of the group; depending upon The Circle's facilitator & guides ; and...upon the myriad influential energies that each of us consciously, and subconsciously carry as we participate our play within unique environments.
For those of you who have, indeed, had at least one Drum Circle experience "under your belt", we say, "Congratulations!". Allowing yourself to be engulfed by these rhythms & energies that are potentially able to lift the Spirit, is a tribute to your willingness to experiment with and delve into a simple method of positive expansion within your own personal Life Journey. And, our willingness to do so is the initial step necessary toward realizing its inherent liberating sense of, both, autonomy & community.
The "Legend of Our Best Selves" is the unfolding journey of our personal realities from deep intrinsic mental vision to our becoming the manifestation of our most heartfelt desires of "Being-ness" in operation. It is the tickling, growing perfection of a familiar Loving Person that we sense within & seek from within, potentially surfacing more & more from our inner depths out into our waking reality. The Individual's Beat of a Drum, joined to the positive collective energies of a drumming Community can help to pulse this new,
more joyful Self forward!
Blessings.

All of the stories that we tell ourselves about Life (all of the ways that we’ve defined It), are in a sense addictions. They are set habits of perception, applied to each Life circumstance by our sensory interpretations which are played out over & over again, daily. We are all aware that for both the individual and the collective, perceptions typically change in a natural manor as we evolve to view Life from different standpoints. The most obvious example of this is how one’s thinking changes as one grows older.
Our perceptions, (or impressions of Life) resonate like habitual rhythms within/upon consciousness. And, although these generally shift and change over time, (as mentioned), dynamic experiences can facilitate great, rapid, long term, (and at times), immediate change.
Drumming can be such a dynamic. The rhythms can resonate within each person who participates in a drum circle session in such a way that perceptions can shift, open and free us from our, heretofore,
old, locked-in, undesirable habits.
The pulse of a drumming circle can be a uniquely infectious experience that places each participant more "in the now". This can affectively introduce transitional portals of other potentials in consciousness, fostering different perspectives. By playing and/or merely listening to and feeling the rhythms, one can advance beyond the boundaries of habitual, familiar and perhaps detrimental emotions & practices.
Drums can facilitate a brighter outlook that is generally more open and welcoming of Life. And as such, drumming can provide an elevated consciousness and atmosphere that- characteristically- vibrates more rapidly. The more rapid, or elevated the vibration, the more Light becomes evident in consciousness & atmosphere. This Light is a shift of awareness that has the potential to energetically de-compress a consciousness once held to the pressures of limited perspectives. In my experience, what's released is simple Joy. As such, The Drum (drumming) is recognized by our bodies' endorphins as a bringer of “Good Feelings”.
(Dr. Robert Lawrence Friedman, "The Healing Power of The Drum")
Perhaps it's surprising that drum resonance can be realized as an impressive tool for this task. Yet, It has been proven that, (generally), there’s a shift that naturally takes place in awareness when one hears and feels a drum’s inviting pulse.
Historically, there’s been a sub-conscious draw and need for people to gather together and express in Drum Circle fashion. (This propensity still plays out in “so-called” sophisticated cultures today- at parties and other social gatherings where we “feast”, listen/play music and dance). It is an intrinsic phenomena natural to humanity the world over. It is fundamentally tribal and inbred by nature to help solidify and properly advance all aspects of community in a wise and healthy way.

For instance, at the end of a day’s experience, indigenous peoples the world over have made it a point to join together and celebrate their connection to Life, and to each other in similar manner. The drumming practices & the affects are inseparable positive aspects of their Life-culture. Studies reveal a remarkable level of communal joy & happiness within groups who continue to gather together in this fashion as a tradition, even in the throws of great poverty, and other adversities. This continues to foster the progenitive energy of positive, healthy living, regardless of circumstance.
(ITBC, The Drum: Heartbeat of Indigenous Cultures).
Such positive connections to family and community can help to provide a world outlook- a perspective of Life- that is absent of, or (at the very least) decreases the need for self-abusive addictions. We all know that a great support foundation centered around such gatherings can thwart the potentials to detrimentally alter one’s Life experience and, as a result, bring one closer to the very happiness & inner satisfaction that are the tonics of Drum Circle regularity.
We initially measure life experiences by our sensory responses to natural settings that benefit us via a familiar and genuine sense of care. Our conception within our Mother’s womb marks our base familiarity with syncopated pulse (heart beat) & protection and sustenance, and thus, represents our introduction to Life’s feelings & sounds, and security. We hold that Drums remain a significant tool and aspect of this as purpose; an instrument of primordial resonance facilitating a fundamental, and sub-consciously familiar path toward health, protection and life maintenance.

In todays’ world, the bi-polar experiences of us all- that is, the extremes of our perceptions of Life's dualities- find us at various ranges of understanding. These are our cycles, our formats (if you will) for living in our individual worlds, collectively. They represent our sub-conscious go-to comfort zones where circumstances are concerned; where validations of ones perceptions can be found with the many who may be of like mind. And these become our normal ways of Life- our addictions as it were, as learned responses- what we cling to, or look for within ourselves and within others that brings comfort to our abilities to cope with daily events. Should we find no satisfaction in these familiar paradigms, we may seek other ways to adapt once a certain feeling is triggered . We may seek other ways of satisfying the fundamental drive & need tthat might help to bring us back to "center".
If we are that far away from center, the drum (in particular), along with other advised activities & clinical therapeutic approaches, can help to re-establish a central pulse (if you will)- and median of assistance to return toward “plumb”.
Drumming, therefore, holds the simple potential to affectively assist in helping participants to return to “a moment”; to a centered, more balanced space within. Drum Circle energies can often absorb and relieve the pulls and the tensions we hold in dealing with duality consciousness - our daily internal & external conflict experiences. We "grow" our better moments as we seek and allow the rhythms to shed these off-centered stresses, helping us to gain greater states of homeostasis and, perhaps, develop a new median consciousness where natural euphoria holds the more dominate, balanced and attractive space of experience.
Legend Drum Circles is Joyfully compelled to facilitate, and to foster Humanity's intent toward a greater sense of Happiness and personal centered Integrity, all affirmed and supported by the groups of Drum Circle Gatherers who share this intention as an embracing-community-activity that seeks to expand the inherent Love and Liberty within each of our moments.

The INTENT:
Freedom, Joy, Empowerment...
these and all other Healing Components of LOVE!
Legend Drum Circles seeks to help to release us from personal constrictions by creating a non-judgmental “nest” for free & moral expression and camaraderie. And although we offer facilitations to assist this basic process, it is the rhythm of the drums that do the work, coupled with the energy inherent within the collective intent of all who gather.
All who "play" within the circle eventually become the true, self-realized facilitators of their own freedoms of expression, empowerment, Joy, fun, therapy, healing, and connection with others.
